This series contains a number of unique works dealing for the first time with whole areas of previously unresearched culture, such as samizdat (the dissident underground press in the USSR), silent cinema and culinary art. The authors present their material in a fresh and distinctive way, showing an original approach and frequently offering new interpretations of the subject of their studies. The publications in this series introduce previously unknown archive material, broadening the field of academic research in the humanities and opening the door to further studies.

Leningrad Samizdat in the 1950s to 1980s: a Literary EncyclopediaLeningrad Samizdat in the 1950s to 1980s: a Literary Encyclopedia

A unique encyclopaedia of its kind, this invaluable book covers the forty-year history of Leningrad’s unofficial literary movement from the first post-Stalinist years to the fall of the USSR.
